This month saw us say goodbye to the talented students who joined us through Volue’s annual internship programme.
Over the summer, four interns worked with us, all of whom brought fresh ideas and energy to several of our office locations across Norway.
We strongly believe that our internship programme offers far more than just a glimpse into working life. For those who take part, it provides the vital bridge between academic study and its practical application. This year’s interns threw themselves into challenging, high-impact projects, working in small, dynamic teams where the atmosphere was both relaxed and inspiring.
Along the way, they developed practical skills, built professional confidence, and gained first-hand experience with the cutting-edge technologies driving the energy transition – all while learning from some of the industry’s most respected experts.
Marte Kaasa Sydtveit, who worked with Insight by Volue in Oslo, said: “I have had an enjoyable experience at Volue this summer in the Short-Term Insight team, learning more about the commercial side and technical aspects of the energy market. This was done within a welcoming, fun, and professional work environment.”
Erik Grieg, who also worked with Insight by Volue in Oslo, said: “I’ve really enjoyed working with the combination of tech and power markets. Using Volue’s data to gain insights into the current and future status of markets in Europe and Japan was exactly what I hoped for. I’m proud that our work may contribute meaningfully to the Short-Term team.”
Shankeerthana Raveendrakumar worked with the Energy Solutions team Trondheim. On her experience, she said: “My internship at Volue has been a fantastic learning experience. I especially valued the chance to explore real-world optimisation challenges and deepen my understanding of the energy market alongside a supportive and knowledgeable team. I improved internal search and classification tools with AI, making it easier for consultants to find relevant software adoption resources. I also worked on configuring optimisation cases for hydro, thermal, and battery energy assets, which gave me invaluable technical insight.”
And finally, Martin Kollstrand worked with Insight by Volue in Arendal. He said: “I enjoyed my time at Volue and found the diversity of projects the most meaningful part of the experience. My favourite challenge was aggregating customer usage data to optimise storage and reduce cloud costs, an effort that was both technically demanding and incredibly rewarding.”
This summer’s internship program once again proved that when motivated students meet real-world challenges, innovation thrives. From forecasting energy flows to optimising digital infrastructure, our interns left a lasting impact.
We thank each of them for their contributions and wish them every success in their academic and professional journeys.
Kristin Wikstrøm, Chief HR Officer, said: “Our interns brought an incredible mix of curiosity, creativity, and commitment to Volue this summer. They didn’t just learn from us – they made a real impact on our projects and our people. Watching them grow, contribute, and embrace the challenges of the energy sector has been inspiring, and we’re excited to see where their talents take them next.”
